The Inclusivity Initiative in the South Sudan Peace Process

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NAIROBI, KENYA – Ustawi Kenya is proud to announce the launch of a transformative new initiative: Project Tumaini. With strategic support from the Open Society Foundation (OSF) and in partnership with Atrocities Watch, this project marks a critical expansion of our mission to close the distance between those who make the laws and those who live by them.

Project Tumaini (meaning "Hope") is designed to disrupt the cycle of elite-led peace negotiations. We are stepping in as technical and social architects to ensure that the bedrock principles of equality, non-discrimination, and inclusion are actively encoded into the fabric of the South Sudan peace accord.

Evidence for Action

A New Social Contract The project moves beyond traditional diplomacy. We will facilitate "Peace and Equality Hubs," ensuring that community delegates have the technical backing to demand a new, inclusive Social Contract. By collaborating with local universities to provide academic and research rigor, we are transforming local grievances into undeniable evidence for negotiators.

Inclusion by Design

In keeping with our "With, Not For" philosophy, we are working to ensure that the final peace framework protects the rights of women, youth, and marginalized ethnic groups. This isn’t just about stopping a conflict; it’s about building a South Sudan where dignity is a constitutional guarantee.
